Our Savior Lutheran Church is member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and as Lutherans we believe...
God always was and always will be. He is one God in three persons. God the Father is the Creator and Preserver of all things. He made you and cares about you. God's son, Jesus Christ, died and rose again for your sins. The Holy Spirit is given to you at Baptism and gives you the ability to have faith and gives you the power continue in your faith.
All people are sinners and in need of forgiveness. God said the penalty of sin is death. That is bad news for us. By ourselves we are hopeless. That's the good news of Jesus, who was both, God and human at the same time, lived a sinless life on Earth and allowed himself to be killed on a cross for our sins. He came back to life to show all of us that death is no longer permanent and sin no longer makes us hopeless. To be forgiven of our sins we must believe Jesus is our Savior.
The Bible is God's word for his people in every time and place. Everything we need to know about life and faith is in the Bible. We believe the Bible contains no errors and gives us instructions how to live as God's children.
God invites us to become part of His family through Baptism. Baptism requires two things, water and God's words from the Bible. Through Baptism, all people, even babies, are forgiven of their sins and are saved from spiritual death when they believe in Jesus.
Communion, or the Lord's Supper, are Jesus body and blood in and with the bread and wine that are eaten. This makes Communion more important and powerful than just a ritual because through it we receive forgiveness of sins and our faith is strengthened.
