From Pastor Gary...

Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. (Mark 5: 41-42)

Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came to Jesus and told Him his daughter was deathly sick. He asked Jesus to lay His hands on her so she would be made well. Before they arrived Jairus’ daughter had died. People were weeping at the loss of this young life. Jesus was about to show them that he had power over death.
“Little girl, I say to you, arise.” And that she did.

Jesus, the son of God, has overcome death for us. When he died on the cross, Jesus paid the price required for the sin of the whole world. When he rose from the grave three days later, he conquered death. Jesus said, “Whoever hears my word and believes in him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgement but passes from death to life.” (John 5:24)

As believers in Jesus Christ, we are no longer in the spiritually dead condition into which we were born. We have been given new life in Christ. Because Christ physically rose from the dead, we too shall arise when he returns and takes us to our heavenly home.

Thank You, Jesus, for the salvation you earned for us by your death and resurrection. Amen.

Verse for today:
I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live., and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. (John 11: 25-26)
