Your wife will be like a fruitful Vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. (Psalm 128:3)
Yesterday we focused on God’s greatest blessing offered to mankind, salvation through Christ. As I think about how God continues to bless us, I’m sure you would agree that family is at the top of the earthly list. After our relationship with our creator none is stronger than that of husband and wife. Children are a blessing of that relationship. We have the joy of sharing our faith as we live our lives with those entrusted to our care.
We read in Scripture:
“An excellent wife, who can find? She is far more precious than jewels” (Proverbs 231:10),”
“Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him (Psalm 127:3).”
“Grandchildren are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children (Proverbs 17:6).”
Spouses, parents, children, grandchildren, and extended family are truly a blessing. Don’t forget to tell them how much you love them, and how much they are loved by God. Take time to thank God for the blessing of your family.
Verse for today:
But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15)
