On this day in 1944 the allied invasion of Normandy began. Referred to as D-Day, this began the liberation of France, and eventually Western Europe. The allies brought freedom to Nazi occupied Europe. As people of the United States, we cherish the freedoms we have. However, true freedom is found in Christ. Apart from Christ we are not free, but slaves to sin. We live under the tyrannical rule of Satan and are subject to our own sinful desires. But Christ sets us free. By His death and resurrection, the shackles of sin are broken. Satan no longer rules over us. We are truly set free. God in His grace and mercy has called us to saving faith in Jesus Christ. As believers in Christ we are free to love and serve God. We are free to share the Gospel to those still prisoners of their sinful condition. Verse for today: Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover up for evil, but living as servants of God.(1 Peter 2:16)
