All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)
God has communicated to people in various ways. He spoke through dreams and through the prophets. He communicated through angels. The author of Hebrews wrote, “Long ago, at many times and in many ways God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son” (Hebrews 1:1-2). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, spoke the very word of God to the people of His day. God then spoke through the apostles completing His inspired Word, the Holy Bible. Here God reveals the Gospel, salvation offered through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Through the Word we know of God’s holiness and our sinfulness. God communicates through Scripture how to live as redeemed people.
God has given us His inspired, Holy Word. What a blessing this is for our lives here on earth, and for eternity. May our Bibles never collect dust but have the tattered pages of a well-used book.
Verse for today:
But these are written so that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God, and that by believing you might have life in his name. (John 20:31)
